Description
The Administrative Residency Program at Sutter Physician Services will provide an opportunity for Master’s prepared individuals to learn from excellent preceptors and to work in one or more areas of specialization in a health care management and administrative services environment.  Specialized focus may include billing and accounts receivable and managed care administration for provider groups, facilities and payers, independent physician practices, and electronic practice management and medical record applications.  The Program lasts for a twelve month period.
 
The Administrative Resident will expand experience and develop an in-depth understanding of operations and strategic initiatives through project work and direct participation in management activities.  This will allow the Resident to gain a broad base of understanding regarding the challenges facing health care administration and additionally, to develop valuable skills that will better prepare them to assume leadership roles in the health care industry.

I.        Minimum Position Requirements
A.    Please provide:

2.     Statement of residency and career objectives
3.     Two professional letters of recommendation (at least one letter from a faculty member, if currently enrolled in a graduate degree program)
4.     Graduate transcripts (official or unofficial)
B.    Education
1.     BA in health and/or business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
2.     Must be enrolled in a MHA/MPH degree program to qualify as a Resident
3.     Must take continuing education instruction in the following:
a.     Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt Course (TBD)
b.    Epic Simulation Courses
C.    Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
1.     Experience in the healthcare industry helpful
2.     Experience analyzing complex issues and recommending appropriate/meaningful and fiscally sound solutions desired
3.     Knowledge of current issues affecting the healthcare industry desired
4.     Awareness of applicable legal and regulatory requirements, standards and guidelines
5.     Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma approaches to process improvement helpful
6.     Must have excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation), problem identification and analytical skills required to formulate and recommend creative solutions to diverse and complex problems
7.     Demonstrated ability to use personal computer, including Microsoft Office Suite applications required
8.     Must be able to function as in individual contributor and as part of a team
9.     Must be able to read and understand financial analyses and statements
10.  Organization and prioritization skills required.
