Description
The BMEC Project Coordinator provides support services for both technical support for the service delivery scheduling and documentation system used by BMEC, new clinical projects and medical device incident investigation.
 
Insures that the BMEC database information is consistent with standard nomenclature.
  • Reviews database for consistency in equipment model numbers.
  • Insures that equipment dictionary entries are appropriately configured.
  • Validates that the multi tiered location data is appropriate at all clients.    
  • Works with the technicians, supervisors , and managers to establish how errors are to be corrected.
Develops, updates, and monitors the PM procedures used by BMEC. 
 
  • Identifies categories of equipment that require updates to their PM procedures.   
  • Works with the technical staff to develop both the text procedures and the automated documentation prompts for the new procedures.           
  • Works with the technicians and programmers to monitor the deployment of new PM procedures.
  • Participates on safety / EOC rounds at clients periodically to assess the PM process.
  
Assists in resolving the correct categorization of new equipment for entry into the BMEC database
  • Works with the Service Coordinators to resolve the proper characterization (and PM procedure assignment) for new complex equipment.
  • Reviews new entered equipment from the pending queue to insure correctness.
  • Reviews problem repair documentation and resolves issues.
  • Manages the test equipment calibration program to insure compliance with standards.
  • Monitors equipment sent out for repair for timeliness and cost.
  • Supervises and assesses technicians performance.
 
Reviews proposals for new clinical equipment installation for appropriateness
  • Evaluates vendor quotations for new clinical equipment installations for correctness and recommends alternatives as appropriate.
  • Works with the Director and managers to plan new equipment installations.
 
Assists the Clinical Engineering Manager in support of clinical equipment incident investigation
Assists in the investigation of medical equipment incidents at client facilities.

Education:
An AA degree or equivalent experience in marketing, life science, electronics or electrical engineering as would typically be achieved by 10 years work experience in medical equipment service or equivalent experience.
 
Experience /  Knowledge / Skills: Past experience in a service delivery environment as would be acquired in ten years of service as a BMET is required. Must have extensive background in at least three of BMEC's major product lines. Experience in the "third party" service area is required.
 
Must have experience with the installation of both Patient Monitoring and Diagnostic Imaging Equipment.
 
Must have demonstrated familiarity with database applications.
 
Must have experience in developing medical equipment preventive maintenance procedures.
 
Anatomy and Physiology, Life Sciences, biomedical equipment and familiarity with regulations such as AAMI, JCAHO, NFPA, OSHPOD, and Title 22.
 
Incumbent must be familiar with the use of personal computers and various types of software. The incumbent must have excellent communications skills, especially verbal, and demonstrated presentation and negotiation skills.  Must be able to work autonomously under the guidance of the Biomedical Engineering Director.  Independence and self direction to anticipate and proactively solve problems, handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions is required.    Must have a valid California drivers license and driving record acceptable by Sutter's insurance carrier.
 
  
Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting of boxes and supplies up to 40 lbs is required.  May require sitting, standing, stooping, bending and the ability to transport equipment and supplies.
 
Must be able to travel throughout California.
