DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE:
The CPMC Nurse Informaticist Manager is accountable for providing a clinical and informatics perspective in the application of Quality Delivery (QD) System principles across CPMC. The role assures that the application of these lean principles improves clinical outcomes and that a growing number of clinicians are engaged, supportive and enthusiastic about participating in process optimization and continuous improvement. An important component of this role is support of the development, implementation, adoption, and optimization of clinical information systems in the targeted improvement areas addressed by the QD System. In the near term, EHR implementation activities will be a major focus for this role. Over the longer term, the Nurse Informaticist Manager will leverage the EHR tool and the QDS discipline to improve overall care processes. The Nurse Informaticist Manager will report to the Director of Medical Informatics, facilitating organizational improvement priorities for the medical center, and working with administrators, nursing leaders, and the affiliated clinician community. The Nurse Informaticist Manager will primarily focus on the nursing engagement component of the QD System and clinical information systems, but will need to work with allied clinical and administrative staff as well. The candidate will serve as needed in a liaison capacity with Sutter Health Information Services and Sutter Operating System. SUPERVISION: The position reports directly to the CPMC Director of Medical Informatics, with dotted line reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer. Education: BSN required. Certification in CPMC’s Quality Delivery (QD) System or other external equivalent certification (i.e., TQM, LEAN, Six Sigma) preferred, Epic certification a plus
Knowledge: Clinical information systems, process improvement methods (e.g. PDCA), project management, hospital-based clinical information systems and how they are used within the medical center, desktop software (Microsoft Office, Visio, Project)
Experience: Must be a Registered Nurse with nurse management experience. Background or experience implementing or using health information technology experience is desired. Must possess strong communication skills and be able to articulate key issues around organizational change to a variety of audiences.
