POSITION SUMMARY


 


The Radiologic Technologist provides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients.


 


Principal Accountabilities


  • Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

  • Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

  • May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

  • Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.

  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.

  • Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.


MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:

  • ARRT Registered Technologist, {RT(R)} in good standing, or eligible to take the ARRT Radiography registration examination.
  • Valid CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certifcation for Healthcare Provider. 
  • State Licensure (CRT) is required.
  • Fluoroscopy license as required by state regulations. 
  • Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography.

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is desirable.
  • Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable.


 

Knowledge: 

  • Must be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views.
  • Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
  • Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize cordingly.

 

Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
