POSITION SUMMARY The Radiologic Technologist provides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients. Principal Accountabilities
- Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.
- Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
- Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.
- May be required to train / precept students and new techs.
- Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.
- Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.
- Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education:
- ARRT Registered Technologist, {RT(R)} in good standing, or eligible to take the ARRT Radiography registration examination.
- Valid CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certifcation for Healthcare Provider.
- State Licensure (CRT) is required.
- Fluoroscopy license as required by state regulations.
- Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is desirable.
- Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable.
Knowledge:
- Must be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views.
- Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
- Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize cordingly.
Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
