Description
The director is responsible for planning and directing system-wide strategic marketing and outreach efforts to build physician relationships within and across Sutter Health’s five regions. Develops and implements plans to market the services of the System to a variety of physician populations to help achieve the organization’s growth objectives. Works collaboratively with Regional leaders to identify areas of growth opportunity. Establishes and deploys a team of physician liaison and outreach coordinators responsible for on-site visits with physicians; sets performance targets and methods of measurement. Manages a contact management database and produces monthly reports of activity.

·         Education:  A Bachelors degree or equivalent in healthcare, business or similar discipline is required.   Masters level preparation is desirable. 
 
·         Experience:  Significant experience in a supervisory or managerial position, as would typically be obtained in approximately 8 years of progressively responsible roles is required, as is experience developing and growing a unique business operation. Experience in health care, health insurance or the pharmaceutical industry is required.  Experience in sales, referral programs, marketing and promotion is required.  Experience managing in a geographically dispersed business environment is preferred.  Experience in supervising sales staff is also preferred.
 
·         Knowledge:  Must have a broad working understanding of marketing, business data and database management, medical group practice, healthcare, managed care contracting, infrastructure development/ maintenance as well as healthcare access and financing issues.  Must have knowledge of physician needs and issues.
 
·         Skills:  Must have financial and marketing acumen sufficient to evaluate performance, analyze market demographics and develop growth strategies, expertise in communication and public speaking and strong project management skills.  Must be skilled in relationship building.  Must have effective computer skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs.  High level competence in business planning is required.
