The Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) is a not-for-profit, community-based multispecialty group practice of medicine. PAMF patients are cared for by the more than 1,000 physicians from the four historic medical groups affiliated with PAMF: Camino, Palo Alto, Santa Cruz and Mills-Peninsula. This is an outstanding opportunity for a bright, hard-working and energetic college graduate to gain experience in healthcare, and specifically in process improvement. You will be exposed to healthcare operations management, operations consulting and the Lean performance improvement methodology. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation clinicians and administrators. It is great experience for someone interested in a career in healthcare to get a first-hand understanding of ambulatory healthcare operations.

 

Reporting to the Director of the Lean Promotion Office, the Lean Promotion Intern is a resource for aiding in the execution of training and support for the Lean Promotion Office. The Intern will be part of a team of individuals responsible for teaching and coaching PAMF administrators, clinicians and front-line staff on the application of Lean as a business strategy to solve organizational problems.

 

This one year position (commitment: 40 hours/week; minimum of 9 months, maximum of 12 months) will be particularly be of interest to graduates planning a career in healthcare, Industrial Engineering and/or process improvement.

  

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university; strong interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

PREFERRED: software skills such as PowerPoint and Visio
