Description
The Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation is a not for profit corporation that exists to provide medical services, research and education. The foundation provides the infrastructure for the delivery of physician services, and contracts with a separate corporation comprised of physicians and other care providers to deliver the clinical services. This multi-specialty foundation will provide a platform from which new physicians can be recruited to continue to provide physician services in a nonprofit, community setting. The Foundation's vision is to create a medical group that will deliver high quality, market competitive medical services.
 

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists the physician/mid-level clinician by providing clinical support in all aspects of patient care and serves as a member of the Care Center team in Patient Team Specialist Duties: Oversight of the day to day workflow and patient service for a specific group of medical assistants within a work area, in order to provide an environment that supports efficient, high quality, patient focused care for every visit.  Works under the supervision of Supervisor or Care Center Manager.   



Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Must be a graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program. Must maintain current California licensure as an LVN. Current certification in CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS).

 

Experience:   Must possess a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform primary responsibilities as would be typically obtained in a 2-year Licensed Vocational Nursing program. 2-3 years previous experience working in an ambulatory care setting as an LVN, preferred.  For specialty roles, one year of prior experience in the area is required

 

Knowledge:   Knowledge of scope of practice for a LVN in the State of California. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Knowledge of Universal Precautions. Knowledge of clinic based protocols. Knowledge of normal values for vital signs, i.e., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature. Knowledge of medical positioning for patients. Knowledge of scheduling practices/referrals for physician offices preferred. Knowledge of effective teamwork practices between front and back office staff. Knowledge of scope of practice for LVN and MA standards in the State of California.

 

License, certification: An unrestricted LVN license in the State of California

 

Special Skills and/or Equipment Used:   Ability to give safe, accurate injections. Ability to accurately identify syringe calibrations. Ability to identify injection sites using anatomical landmarks. Ability to identify and use basic medical equipment. Math skills sufficient to correctly and accurately calculate medication dosages. Math skills sufficient to correctly and accurately mix medications for injections. Excellent customer service skills are required for this position. Ability to work with a variety of personalities in the medical office setting. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and in a timely manner (such as rooming patients, patient flow and interactions, taking phone calls, reviewing patient care information with the physician/mid-level clinician, and handling pharmacy refills). Proven ability to master the required EPIC skills needed to perform in this role. Ability to handle patient flow and interactions.  Ability to accept, implement and evaluate change; and to act as a change agent within the work group. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities paying particular attention to detail.  Organizational skills are important for this position. The ability to manage multiple priorities and demands on time, while remaining calm. Excellent customer service skills are required for this position. Ability to mentor, delegate, and hold peers accountable in a manner which encourages team building and a positive work experience as well as high standards of care quality and efficiency. Is able to have effective authority in a peer group.

 

Physical Requirements: This position may be required to support patients with physical limitations including walking, lifting, and transferring patients from a wheel chair to an exam table. This position requires the employee to bend, push, pull, and lift during the cleaning up, setting up/maintaining exam rooms and medical equipment. This position requires fine dexterity in order to properly mix and give injections and/or performs phlebotomy procedures on a patient. 70% standing; 10% sitting; 20% bending/ stooping/ lifting. Lifting up to 30 pounds.
