Core Network Design Engineer Job Listing at Telefonica in Dublin

This Engineering role will work within the Core Network Engineering team having responsibility for dimensioning and designing of the Core Circuit Packet Network. The role also covers design from a Core perspective out towards peripheral services such as Roaming data, Service Enabler links toward IN, SMS and associated infrastructures. In addition, the successful candidate will have responsibility for design integration of consumer, corporate APN VPN solutions. The role will requirea close working relationship with our Business teamsproviding feasibility studies of new business requirements. Other responsibilities include long term network performance trending, monitoring resolution of any identified issues. There is a strong focus on vendor management, to ensure value for money and quality deliverables are achieved at all times.

Work closely with the Strategy and Consulting team to define implement annual Technology Plan
Knowledge of design, engineering implementation capabilities across the O2 Core Nodes, both packet and circuit – i.e. design and/or operations skills around supporting Ericsson HLR, MGW, MSC, GGSN, SGSN, etc
Work with multiple Managed Service Partners and Vendors to deliver Core Core Support Projects into the Live Network
Responsibility for design, verification and implementation of Core related projects for quality deployment into the live Network
Responsibility for the design and dimensioning of the Core including DPI solution within the Network
Identification and resolution of long term Performance Issues through trending and monitoring on the Core network using tools such as Business Objects
Guide drive initiativeson ensuring availability and security of Core network
Provide support and mentoring to less experienced team members
Build and maintain awareness of commercial and product offerings to future proof team knowledge and network support
Will require flexibility on occasion to perform post upgrade monitoring or support for project delivery when required outside of core business hours
