Job Description

The Module Integration team:

The  Module Integration Team works within the Product Engineering department and has as main responsibility to develop for all major OEMs suspension corner modules for their next generation of vehicles. This means integrating the Tenneco damper with a number of external components like rubber mountings, spring, bearing.


Besides the typical McPherson front strut module or rear damper module, we are also developing air spring modules for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, as well as special designs for advanced suspensions and motorbike applications.


When integrating these external components to the Tenneco damper, we need to work closely together with different technology partners, which requires a good knowledge of car suspension systems and technologies and the ability to quickly understand different concepts and different components.


Job Description of the Module Development Engineer:


  •   The Module Development Engineer will work on the development of front and rear corner modules. He will participate from the start of a program in the predevelopment and quoting phase and will support the further development until SOP (start of production).


  •  In addition he will take up responsibility for one or more components as component expert, being the person to maintain and expand component know-how for the assigned parts.


  •  For this vacancy the focus will be on developing air suspension systems and pre-development work for advanced suspensions, as well as motorbike applications.


  •  Main activities are:  
    • analysis of customer requirements
    • generating new concepts
    • organizing for concepts to be transformed from initial sketch to detailed design
    • setting up required CAE analyses
    • defining validation tests and follow-up of suppliers. 


  • Final release of all components is the last step in the development process.


  • Additionally he will also keep in close contact with all key suppliers and technology partners to be aware of new technologies.


  •  Last but not least, the module development engineer will also participate in the regular benchmarking activities of competitor products with special focus on the modular components.


After gaining a minimum level of experience, customer visits will take place on regular basis, depending on the project phase. Also presentations to internal teams and Tenneco management will occur.

- Prepared to make business trips

- Good knowledge of English and additional languages skills (German, French) are a benefit.

- Experience in automotive chassis design and OE customers is a benefit

Required Experience
  • Master degree in mechanical or automotive engineering  
  • For this job it is required to have a solid understanding of the mechanical behaviour of structures and mechanisms in order to thoroughly understand how a car suspension functions and which the key parameters are. A good knowledge of different materials such as plastics, steel and aluminium is a benefit.
