This position manages refinery process controls engineering function. Control systems include Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrument Systems (SIS), Process Data Historian (PI), Alarm Management Tools, Advance Process Control (APC) applications, and other related systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Establishes process controls engineering objectives aligning with refinery's targets for safety, regulatory compliance, reliability and efficiency. Monitors and analyzes current operating status, determines resources and initiates and implements initiatives to optimize performance and improve reliability. Responsible for timely and expert troubleshooting of equipment and system issues.

Manages staff. Ensures personnel are resourced and trained to successfully perform their jobs. Initiates selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate; accountable for fair and uniform application of human resources policies.

Provides technical leadership for design and execution of new and/or modified instrumentation and control systems projects. Ensures compliance with established engineering standards and industry codes.

Stays abreast of new and emerging technologies affecting process controls systems and equipment. Makes technical recommendations for upgrades for approval by refinery management.

Participates in development of Technical Services budget. Exercises financial stewardship to control expenditures.
Education and Experience
* Minimum undergraduate degree in engineering.
* Minimum 10 years process controls/instrumentation engineering experience in petrochemical industry.
* Demonstrated success in managing engineering team.

Physical ability to perform all essential job duties and work extended hours, including nights and weekends in a process operations environment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Must be able to access all areas of the refinery including using stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment.
