Regular Position Summary Overview:
Provide education and administrative support for unit operations and ensure effective and efficient implementation of key educational processes at the unit level (orientation; annual competence assessment; preceptor orientation and development; required training; ongoing development; student affiliations).

Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and document patient care. Ensure the design, implementation and evaluation of a cost effective unit-based orientation process focusing on knowledge, skills and relationships. Orient and develop preceptors. Coordinate the annual assessment and validation of priority high-risk skills. Coordinate/conduct required training to close performance gaps in knowledge and skills. Implement a unit-based plan for advancing competence of staff on all shifts. Coordinate unit-based clinical experience for students. Participate in quality outcomes program and/or unit-based quality initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills:
Broad knowledge of nursing functions, specific knowledge of patient care activities on assigned unit(s) and knowledge of the six key educational processes (orientation; annual competence assessment; preceptor orientation and development; required training; ongoing development; student affiliations). The ability to perform skills outlined on the staff nurse and decentralized educator orientation pathway.

Education, Experience and Licensure:
Bachelor's degree in nursing and a current RN Texas license. Minimum of two (2) years clinical nursing experience; minimum of one (1) year preceptor or educator experience is required. Proficient in the use of micro-soft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook) a plus. About Texas Children's Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women

The Pavilion for Women will advance the hospital's mission with a full range of obstetrical services including but not limited to: evaluation and consultation, preterm birth evaluation, perinatal diagnostic and treatment services, childbirth and parenting education classes and lactation and psychosocial support services.

The Pavilion for Women also provides a full range of gynecological care, from annual well care checkups to highly specialized procedures and minimally invasive surgeries.
