Job Title: Manager, Therapy/Rehab (West Campus) Job ID: 125140 West Campus, Houston, TX Location: Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Position Summary PURPOSE: Direct, manage and coordinate the department's daily inpatient/outpatient operations related to the provision of therapy services and provide clinical direction to therapists, technicians and students; promote, facilitate and lead program development initiatives; serve as a mentor to clinical staff - plan, evaluate, organize, design and implement treatment techniques and programs in a developmentally and age appropriate manner for patients ages 0 - adulthood; work closely with the others to develop programs/projects improving the way physical, occupational and speech therapy are delivered; effectively coordinate daily operations to maximize patient flow, internal and external customer expectations and patient satisfaction; provide effective leadership and support of the various systems and administrative operation sections of West Campus; ensure appropriate and adequate staffing through effective recruiting, interviewing, candidate selection and ongoing performance management. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS: Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, speech therapy and physical medicine care provision, documentation and billing; strategic planning methodology, regulatory and accrediting agency standards (JCAHO, COP, OSHA); educational program design; performance improvement methodology (KIDS); occupational and physical therapy student intern fieldwork performance evaluation methods; and facilitative leadership methodology required. The ability to provide clinical expertise in occupational and/or physical therapy modalities in multiple clinical settings; operate a personal computer and use word processing, database, graphics and spreadsheet software also required. Must have sound problem-solving ability and the ability to perform detailed analysis; ability to undertake large projects; effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to deal effectively with patients, medical staff, administration and the public. Must have excellent skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing and delegating. Must be able to lead and facilitate diverse groups to achieve pre-established outcomes in a reasonable time frame; communicate effectively, even in difficult situations and collaborate and negotiate with others; design reliable and valid data collection tools that measure performance; assess needs, design, develop, implement and evaluate interdisciplinary training and development programs using adult learning principles; measure the impact of training and other performance improvement interventions; make presentations to various size groups; delegate, coach and develop others to improve their performance; and manage multiple complex projects. EDUCATION, LICENSURE EXPERIENCE: A master's in business, education or healthcare related field; eight (8) years of healthcare experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must be a TX licensed OT or PT. About Texas Children's Texas Children's Hospital is expanding its care to the community and constructing one of the nation's largest suburban pediatric hospitals. Located in west Houston at I-10 and Barker Cypress, the new West Campus will offer quality and convenience to area parents and children. The hospital will offer outpatient services, including but not limited to, pediatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary medicine, and physical medicine and rehab services starting in the fall of 2010. Inpatient and emergency center services as well as advanced diagnostic imaging and a neurophysiology sleep laboratory will be available in the spring of 2011. When fully complete, Texas Children's West Campus will incorporate evidence-based design principles that promote healing, such as park-like settings, natural light and views of nature and water. Additionally, all 500,000 square feet will be devoted to providing the best possible care from the experienced doctors you've come to trust at Texas Children's Hospital.
