Job Title: Physical Therapist - Full-time (Main Campus) Job ID: 125406 Medical Center, Houston, TX Location: Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Position Summary Overview: Plan, evaluate, organize and implement physical therapy treatment programs in a developmentally and age appropriate manner for patients (0 - adulthood). Responsibilities: Complete patient evaluations and reassessments; develop an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings; develop measurable long and short-term goals; perform patient care and related activities demonstrating basic clinical competencies (Biodex, HELP and Peabody 2) - must complete additional competencies in VMI, MVPT-r, TVPS, TVMS, handwriting, basic feeding and resting hand splints; communicate and collaborate with other members of the patient's interdisciplinary care team and coordinate treatment plan; monitor patient response to treatment intervention; recommend adaptive equipment; design and fabricate orthotic equipment and adaptive devices; recommend termination of treatment when appropriate. Assess patient and family regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the best method of teaching; provide information to patients and families concerning their participation in the patient's continuity of care; assess patient and family's understanding of, cooperation with and participation in their own care; develop and instruct patient and family in appropriate home treatment program. Document information in patient's medical record. Participate in staff and student development. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and understanding of rehabilitative care of patients with acute and chronic conditions, a strong desire to work with children and knowledge of development from the ages of neonate to adulthood. Successful demonstration of the professional fundamental competencies required. Must be articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital, administrative and departmental personnel, patients and parents, with the ability to honor confidentiality; will independently treat patients by developing and following the established therapy plan of care; will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; and will utilize basic office equipment such as fax, copier and PC. Education, Experience and License: Degree in physical therapy and current Texas PT license (temp license acceptable) required.
