Job Title: Staff Nurse - 3p-11p Pavillion for Women Operating Room Job ID: 125391 Medical Center, Houston, TX Location: Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Shift and Salary Grade Shift: 3p-11p Salary Grade: 11 Position Summary Overview: Provide quality nursing care to the surgical patient. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner facilitating quality patient care and surgical intervention in a safe and cost-effective environment. Responsibilities: Collect data from patient, family, lab and other medical reports; complete nursing assessment of the patient/family (biological, psychological, age appropriate developmental, environmental, cultural and spiritual); coordinate, analyze and review surgical procedures; determine patient needs and priorities for care. Develop a plan of care based upon the nursing assessment; facilitate the coordination of the surgical team; determine which standard of care and practice apply to the patient; prioritize patient care based on new information; perform generic and unit-based/critical competencies; evaluate and document patient responses to care provided and ensure the patient's progress towards meeting desired outcomes; involve family and significant individuals in the patient's plan of care. Educate patients and families. Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and customer service skills. Accountable for managing time and resources in a cost effective manner. Accountable for maintaining professional development and participate in development of others. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of nursing functions, basic anatomy and physiology and surgical procedures required. The ability to demonstrate and perform generic and unit-based competencies including the specific care of age and diagnosis; positive interpersonal skills; utilize time and resources in a cost effective manner; flexibility; good verbal and written communication skills; delegation; operate various medical/surgical equipment; utilize a personal computer, including word processing and basic office equipment. Education, Licensure and Experience: Bachelor's or Associate's in nursing with Texas RN license. Operating room experience preferred and pediatric experience a plus. One year of professional nursing experience About Texas Children's Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women Expanding upon Texas Children's Hospital reputation in fetal and neonatal medicine, the Pavilion for Women, located in the Texas Medical Center offers a full range of maternal, newborn and gynecological services, all in one location. The Pavilion for Women will advance the hospital's mission with a full range of obstetrical services including but not limited to: evaluation and consultation, preterm birth evaluation, perinatal diagnostic and treatment services, childbirth and parenting education classes and lactation and psychosocial support services. In addition, expectant mothers have access to a full spectrum of fetal therapies and for infants in need of specialized care, the Pavilion for Women offers both a Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as access to expert pediatric subspecialists representing more than 40 specialty areas, all in one location. The Pavilion for Women also provides a full range of gynecological care, from annual well care checkups to highly specialized procedures and minimally invasive surgeries.
