Job Title: Ultrasonographer - Women's Specialists - PER DIEM Job ID: 119301 Medical Center, Houston, TX Location: Full/Part Time: Per Diem Regular/Temporary: Regular Shift and Salary Grade Shift: 8-5PM Salary Grade: 11 Position Summary Overview: Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Also responsible for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures and QA. Responsibilities: Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations; use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images; use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings; analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history and communicate findings; assist with daily operations of the sonographic laboratory; maintain a daily patient log and complete exam billing forms; maintain ultrasound equipment, work area and adequate supplies; participate in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation. Perform patient care functions. Promote positive communication. Participate in the professional development of self and others. Knowledge and Skills: Broad knowledge of ultrasound physics and procedures; operation of all required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary; operation of automatic processor, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., PACS related equipment, basic life support and knowledge of medical terminology. The ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and positive guest relations; promote positive inter/intradepartmental communications and relationships; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills; operate basic office equipment. Education, Licensure and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with formal training in a school of medical ultrasound, a minimum two (2) years obstetrical scanning experience and ARDMS registry required. Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography, a minimum two (2) years maternal fetal medicine scanning expererience, certification by the Texas Department of Health/Bureau of Radiation Control and ARRT registry preferred.
