The Texas Medical Center is looking for an innovative and forward thinking Graphics Artist / Photographer to help its team propel the TMC News into its next phase as a global content and communication tool!
It is the graphic artist’s role to provide compelling and visually stunning graphic content for the Texas Medical Center website(s), newspaper / magazine and various media types, with special attention given to driving increased traffic and brand visibility.
With digital content spanning the gamut from written news articles, video interviews and behind-the-scenes features, podcast discussions, and a variety of embedded games or other interactive apps, the graphic artist will be responsible for working with any and all digital content produced by the Texas Medical Center, to implement design elements that help promote excitement and visibility for the center.
In this position you will collaborate with both internal and external team members from staff writers, editors, audio/video production teams, web developers, project managers, and communications and marketing departments.
The bulk of projects will include designing print ads, creating multimedia to support news content, and layout/design for print and digital products. Experience with digital SLR cameras and photo editing required. Experience working in and developing templates for Wordpress is a plus!
•Creation of original artwork and photography, video and sound recordings, and webpages to enhance multiple products including our websites, e-campaigns, and newspaper
•Generate captivating designs and creative editorial spreads
•Filming and editing of videos, sound recordings
•Update website and develop Word Press templates
•Create and launch e-campaigns
•Collaborating with communications and PR to ensure effective communication of the company brand
•Comprehensive portfolio showing creativity, attention to detail, design abilities and range of experience. Samples of print and digital work, as well as photography preferred

•Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications or equivalent study/ professional experience
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a professional graphic artist, graphic designer, or similar role
•Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro and Word Press
•Experience laying out and managing 50+ page files in InDesign
•Experience laying out artistic magazine spreads
•Experience with pre-press file preparation
•Expert typesetting skills
•Understanding of web standards and technologies, including how visual designs are implemented across browsers and devices
•Ability to communicate and implement creative ideas in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
•Strong digital photography and photo editing skills required
•Ability to present projects and take critical feedback
•Knowledge of HTML, CSS and Flash
