Position Summary: Discovery Camp is a summer day camp held at The Franklin Institute Science Museum. Children in grades Pre-K-8 are able to come to The Franklin Institute and participate in hands-on activities, visit exhibits and theaters, enjoy presentations by guest scientists and other professionals, and continue the science explorations they begin at the Institute on field trips related to the theme of the session. Intern will be asked to: Design layout, collect photos and write articles for the camp newsletter Print and distribute newsletter on a weekly basis Create a photo slide show (PowerPoint) to be used on the last day of each session. Spend time in the classrooms taking pictures and observing activities Coordinate the above tasks with additional media interns. Educational Requirements: Science or education majors with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with informal science learning preferred. Special Skills Required: Must have good editing skills and have a keen attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and complete tasks within deadlines. Applicants should be comfortable working with children. Schedule Requirements: Must be available at least 3 days per week M-F during the summer.
