Description: This is a security professional that is going to be doing Security Risk Assessments for the technical application and infrastructure departments. The majority of the time will be spent doing interviews with the internal infrastructure providers like the Network Engineers, System Administrators, DBA's, and some application developers and also the business owners.

Looking for someone that has good people skills and a technical background, along with security risk assessment expertise. This candidate needs to have experience getting technical people to take the time to meet with them and discuss their current security situation and the candidate needs to be technical enough to know if they are getting attacked.

Ideal candidate will be doing risk assessments where we need someone who can act independently and get answers to questions about the security of systems. Looking for someone that has done risk assessments but not so much if they've done audit-oriented risk assessments. Audit-oriented risk assessments are more focused on satisfying a regulator, while we're more interested in figuring out how to improve security. Improving security requires the assessor to be able to elicit suggestions from people they interview and to ferret out information that may not be obvious and may not be available in a checklist.

Ideally we would like to see someone with some technical or Systems Administration experience or knowledge (ie. TCP/IP, Unix, Ethernet, etc).
Duties:

Individuals in this position are assigned to tasks of medium and broad scopes that require an expert understanding of security technologies and strategies. On routine tasks, they will work independently but in complex situations are expected to coordinate efforts of others on projects.

Analyze, propose and design the implementation of security interfaces in systems, applications, and network software. Work with both commercial vendor products and open source software to build the infrastructure of the security architecture.
Qualifications:

aBacheloras degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

aMinimum of 4 years experience in information systems security.

aAdvanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Ethernet.

aDemonstrated understanding of security related technologies. Includes encryption, VPN, authentication and authorization systems and firewall technologies.

aExtensive exposure to and knowledge of network security technologies, such as IDS, IPS, application proxies and routing and switching fundamentals.

aSystem administration background with Microsoft or UNIX environments required, including experience with securing operating systems, role-based administration, and experience with network based attack methodologies.

aPossess experience in the development of information security policies, incident response procedures, risk analysis and administering the operations of a complex security infrastructure.

aMust be able to work independently and proactively.

aAbility to contribute and collaborate effectively as a lead member of a highly-functioning and productive team.

aExcellent organizational, analytical, and independent problem solving skills.

aAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

aDemonstrated successful performance in giving presentations, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.

aDemonstrated leadership with project deadlines and motivating others.

aExperienced in either industry security training such as SANS GIAC, or have work experience in security consulting or have conducted equivalent research in the field of computer or network security.
