Job Title: FOOD TECHNOLOGIST Job Type: Permanent Company: JUDGE GROUP Location: santa rosa,ca Contact E-mail: kgordon@judge.com Salary: 25-27 Description: Summary: Provides support to Research and Development Manager. Candidate is responsible for developing new and/or improved products using existing and newly improved ingredients and technologies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects managementas definition of the essential functions for this position, but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. a Modify existing products and processes and developing new ones a Research current consumer markets and latest technologies to develop new product concepts and/or packaging concepts a Continually source scientific and market trends by remaining informed on industry related product innovations a Participates in work related trainings, course work, trade shows and seminars as assigned by Department Manager a Evaluates and ensures the accuracy of data collected during plant trials a Evaluates and ensures the accuracy of prototype testing to finalize product specifications and production processing parameters a Appropriate selection of raw materials and other ingredients from suppliers in order to reduce raw material costs as well as improve product quality and consistency a Prepare product costing based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products a Ensure repeatability, consistency, quality, and safety of new and/or improved products a Liaising and cooperating with internal and external colleagues in procurement, sales and marketing, and technical services to reach project goals a Create and ensure accuracy of nutrition facts panels, allergen and ingredient declarations for new and/or existing products though the use of Genesis Nutritional Labeling Software and outside laboratories and/or consultants a Create and ensure accuracy of all product specification sheets a Excellent ability to articulate technical information in both written and verbal forms a Apply broad and diverse knowledge of the food production process a Organizes and provides timely summaries on the progress of projects to Department Manager a Responsible for organizing appropriate internal and external sensory evaluations and/or focus groups as necessary a Assist Marketing Department in final package label development a Assists Department Manager on all final label approvals EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE a BS Food Science, Nutritional Science or related field desired a Minimum one-year experience working as R&D Technician II (or comparable work experience to that of an R&D Technician II) a An in-depth knowledge of GMPs, HACCP a In depth knowledge and experience in the labeling of FDA regulated food products a In depth knowledge of USDA organic standards as it pertains to ingredient selection and organic foods labeling Apply on Company Website |
