Description:
Safety and Environmental Manager

Reporting to the Plant Manager this individual will be responsible for Safety and Environmental activities within the production environment.

Essential Job Functions:
a Updates environmental, health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

a Works with supervisors and managers to ensure support is provided in achieving zero lost-time accidents and company recordable incident rate goals.

a Provides active support to site locations by training employees on requirements and assisting the site by developing environmental and safety compliance tools.

a Ensures employees who experience job related injuries receive appropriate medical care with local providers.

a Monitors progress of employees assigned to lost time and restrictive duty status.

a Reviews and maintains OSHA 300 log.

a Assists with workers compensation claims management along with scheduling quarterly meetings.

a Supports all accident/incident investigations, near miss reporting, and facilitation of Root Cause Analysis.

a Develops and provides training for regulatory compliance programs that can be implemented by location managers and/or supervisors, including but not limited to: safety orientation; hearing conservation; respiratory protection; hazard communication; electrical safety (lockout/tagout); chemical safety and process safety management; material handling and powered industrial vehicle permits; personal protective equipment; emergency response planning; and first aid response personnel.

a Manages the personal protective equipment Ear Plugs, Gloves, Shoe covers.

a Responsible for record keeping and reporting for VOCas, Hazardous Wastes, SARA, Stormwater, MSDS, PSM and other required documentation.

a Plans occupational hygiene investigations for locations.

a Ensures the viability and activities of a robust safety committee.

a Responsible for coordinating and maintaining records for all Environmental and Safety programs.

a Prepares and arrange safety exhibits and materials for display to promote workplace safety.

a Oversees that the daily walk-through audits are completed at all locations.

a Establishes, modify, and administer Safety and Environmental education and training monthly.

a Ensures quarterly and annual audits are completed at locations to identify safety and health hazards to ensure appropriate action and resolutions are implemented.

a Maintains and updates emergency evacuation plan and safety information centers.

a Identifies opportunities to improve safety performance and take proactive measurements to implement.

a Performs other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience required:

a Minimum of Bacheloras degree

a Minimum of 3-5 years related experience

a Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
