JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Care Assistant works in partnership with the licensed nurse to support the delivery of care in an environment that promotes caring and healing. The Patient Care Assistant demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations under the supervision of a licensed nurse. He/she records data established by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse. The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions. Has demonstrated competencies or has certification for education of advanced skills such as phlebotomy and stoma care. The Patient Care Assistant practices Relationship Centered Care in concert with The Methodist Hospital values of Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Compassion and Excellence and the ServicePride standards.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or its equivalent is required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1.Minimum of three years of hospital experience
2.RN experience in non-USA country in lieu of PCA experience is acceptable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Basic CPR from AHA (American Heart Association)
Current Certified Nurse Aide/Certified Medical Assistant or 3 Years Hospital/Acute Patient Care Assistant Experience
