Job Purpose:

An essential element for our sustained success together is continual improvement of supplier performance; enabling suppliers to meet Tyco's quality and business objectives. This role supports Tyco through

Primary Function:

Advice on manufacturability (DFM Design For Manufacturability)

Complete Mold Flow Analysis to support Tooling Specification Requirements (TSR) process.

Review tooling specifications

life cycle calculation and management, quality, and new product introductions

Participate in the tool design process

Manage mold manufacturing from mold maker, die maker

Secondary Function:

Manage production tooling (molds, die cast, precision casting, stamping tools) life cycle at Tyco supplier

developing and fine tuning supplier processes

problem resolution and troubleshooting

roll out tools and procedure standardization

continuous assistance with performance and compliance matters.

Job Level Summary Information


This role supports the business in $300M of spend, over 400 suppliers, spread over a region, 50 NPI projects per year, supporting the growth of the company on average by S500K, 20 re-sourcing projects, 1000 components. The role additionally, through negotiation manages efficiently the tooling purchasing.

The role also manages the inventory of tooling assets of $20 M and the life cycle of them.

Impact :

Success in this role results in sustainable improvement of the supplier performances, primarily for tooling suppliers - for the suppliers in the region to meet the quality and business objectives of the products, services and contracting businesses.

The role supports new product introductions and sourcing changes and is responsible for developing the suppliers to improve their performance and compliance in the region.

Support to the Category Strategy through supplier validation and on-boarding procedures.

Maintenance and improvement of the Supply Chain for customer satisfaction.

Sustain the supply chain by managing the tooling asset.


Preferred certificate: Certified Master Molder or equivalent

Tooling Design and mold setup and processing

Specific software knowledge such as Recognised Mold Flow Analysis tool, ProE, AutoCAD etc

Required knowledge for Product design support as the primary function

- Structured DFMEA reviews to identify SC's/CC's

- Design for serviceability

- Design for Manufacturability

- Develop MTBF Reliability Metrics for products

- Reusability index

- Create repository and Design Guidelines and keep them updated

- Eco-friendly material and material minimum concepts

- Minimize Sole Source Components

- Participate in joint PFMEA reviews leading to effective control plans

Expertise in Molding

Master molding with experience in

Hot runner injection molding of high cavitation molds (32, 64 cavities)

Cold runner injection molding

Structural foam molding

Knowledge in Properties of ABS, Nylon, PPS

Melt flow indices

Scientific Injection Molding (SIM)technics

Reduction of defects (flash, cracks, aging..) and improvement of cycle time

Science and/or Engineering Degree qualification or equivalent years of experience;

Toolmaker, Die Maker or Machinist

Quality management certificates or supporting experience.

Minimum Preference Experience:

10 years molding and/ or tooling
