Inventory Lead Planner - Chicago, IL-SAL009456

The Inventory Lead Planner is responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain planning function. This individual contributor role is responsible for using formal analytical techniques and systems to:

- Predict and plan future demand on approximately $70 million of Accessory inventory, supporting approximately 270 retail locations and the Direct Fulfillment sales channel

- Capture and analyze data at the Category, SKU and Store level. Provide target specific cause and effect relationship information on demand to various levels of leadership (including Executive)

- Determine and govern key performance metrics surrounding inventory turn, instock service level, and obsolescence

- Lead partnership with cross-functional teams to determine estimated and actual promotional lifts

- Communicate and educate various partners on inventory strategies

Forecast demand:

- Lead short and long term demand forecast development at category and product level using SAP Advanced Planning Optimization system (APO)

- Develop and lead accessory lifecycle planning through the development of unit plans

- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand upcoming promotions and new product launches. Analyze results of similar promotions or similar products in order to estimate and plan for demand

- Analyze sales by category, product, and/or feature to provide Product Management team feedback on breadth and depth of assortment

- Establish attach rate analysis and develop plans to manage accessories relative to device lifecycle

Lead end-to-end inventory strategy:

- Plot a course of action that will allow for a maximization of identifiable opportunities that include mix of product, allocation strategies, and performance of productive vs. nonproductive inventory

- Determine and monitor key performance metrics that include Inventory Turn, Inventory Obsolescence, and In-Stock service levels (by Product and/or by Location)

- Analyze store inventory levels and sales rates, recognizing company sales trends and subtle geographical differences. Make inventory recommendations to achieve targeted goals

- Collaborate with peers and channel partners to improve advance planning and reduce end-of-life obsolesce. Participate in inventory obsolescence reviews


Manage Reporting Capability:

- Determine reporting requirements and analysis surrounding forecasting for future demand as well as inventory performance

- Manage development of SAP reports with direction from US Cellular Leaders that will provide specific information that facilitates accurate business decisions

- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports according to the needs of the business cycle (Executive summaries, weekly recaps, and general Supply Chain Planning summaries)

- Identify and support ad-hock reporting needs

- Provide leadership and analysis for special projects

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

- 5-7 years of relevant work experience required; inventory planning in retail or related field preferred

- Demonstrated analytical ability ( Understanding of retail math concepts)

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

- Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks at once, and reprioritize as needed

- Strong ability to manage time affectively, and to be versatile

- Self-motivated, and demonstrates initiative

- Ability to develop relationships and work in a team environment

- Ability to sort through ambiguity and work in sometimes undefined roles

- Advanced knowledge of PC Windows based applications (Excel and Word)

- Experience with vendor (or 3rd party) relationships is desired

- SAP or similar system experience desired (SAP R/3 Retail, APO Demand Planning)

- Leadership experience desired

- Understanding of POS systems a bonus
