ROS/Detector Car Operator

Basic Purpose of Job:

This position will be responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the on-track Ultrasonic Rail Test vehicle. The position will require travel up to 90% of the time.

This position will be required to maintain DC~30 to standard DOT requirements. Will require a CDL license, air brake qualified. Along with driving, and maintenance, position will be required to learn to test, and attend level one & two in NDT.
Travel M-F from Evanston, WY to Sidney, NE including Greeley, CO. Salary: $5990.00 per month. A CDL is required.
Accountabilities:

*
Basic understanding of ultrasonic non-destructive testing.


*
Operate a hy-rail vehicle on the track.


*
Inspect and maintain electronic equipment.


*
Work around heavy equipment safely.


*
Operate, inspect and do light maintenance on a medium duty truck (26,000 to 33,000 GVWR).
Required Education, Training, Experience or Skills:

*
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age


*

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)


*
Must be able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions as well as possess good verbal communication skills.

If hired, an applicant must be capable of becoming track qualified and pass appropriate safety and rule compliance tests.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations


*
Travel will be required Must be willing to work away from home for several days or weeks at a time

Ability to speak English in a clear, concise manner in order to communicate with coworker(s) and supervisor(s)

Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills:

Bachelor's Degree


*
Proficient mathematical skills


*
Mechanical Experience


*
At least one year experience with operation of hy-rail test equipment.

Proficient computer skills

Union Pacific operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be required to work various shifts, overtime, holidays and weekends

The pay rate for this position is set by the union agreement and cannot be individually negotiated.

Must have zero work related safety violations in the past two years

Salaried. All hours worked. Includes weekends and holidays. Governed by DOT hours of Service

Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Must practice safe work habits to prevent on the job accidents and injuries. Must utilize all protective equipment assigned

Compliance with the applicable attendance policy is an essential function of this position

Must be willing and able to work around large equipment such as railcars, locomotives and cranes
