The purpose of this position is to assign ICD-9-CM codes and complete DRG attestations for inpatients; to code outpatient and emergency room records; and to perform quality review of records and key data for billing.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
1. Must have current ART or RRA license or be ART or RRA eligible.
2. RNs with successful completion of AHIMA Education Coding Modules and additional Coding Workshops as required will also be considered.
3. CCS or CPC preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
1. Previous Health Information Records ICD-9 and CPT Coding experience preferred.
2. Experience with encoders preferred.

SKILLS:
1. Must have moderate typing ability (approx. 40 words per minute).
2. Must have an appropriate level of understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology. 3. ICD-9-CM and CPT coding experience preferred.
4. Must have working knowledge of Joint Commission Standards and other Federal and State legal requirements.
5. Previous experience with DRGs preferred.

SHIFT: Please note this is a full time benefited position working 80 hours per pay period.
