Description
This Systems Engineer supports the Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Computer Services Division (CSvD), Systems Management Branch (SMB) on-site in Suitland, MD. This position provides systems administration and server management support for the full life-cycle support of the Census Bureau’s enterprise hardware/servers, software operating systems (OS) and Directory Services and infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide enterprise-wide network IDM, directory services (DS), server support for the Census Bureau Headquarters (HQ), National Processing Center (NPC), Regional Offices (ROs), and Telephone Centers (TCs) users; Systems Engineer manages Group Policy and provides server administration; Built, maintain and manage Windows 2003 and 2008 Server R2 Servers; Gather requirements, designs, plans and implements Active Directory; Create and maintain Organizational Unit (OU) design; Monitor backups and resolve failures; Serve as solutions consultant and/or architect for new implementations and provides day to day administration of the Active Directory environments; Maintain OS, DS, and hardware version control and systems security management for all enterprise Windows servers; Respond to and resolve Remedy service requests; Install, maintain and administer MS IIS web servers, Trend Micro Neatsuite and Microsoft SQL databases; Produce system documentation and provide status reports related to detailed project plans; Provide timely on-going technical support of systems, helping to maintain 7x24x365 up-time.

Education: Requires a High school diploma or Equivalent.

Experience: Require 4-5 years of experience in Windows Server administration experience with MCSE/MCITP Enterprise Administration. Desire 1-5 years of experience in the following technical areas: Maintaining AD users accounts, file shares and printing; Building Windows servers; Deploying Windows server updates; Microsoft Clustering; Maintaining and troubleshooting GPP/GPOs; Designing, deploying, and maintaining VMware hosts, farms, and guests

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work as a team and independently. Possess excellent writing and verbal skills. Possess knowledge and/or experience with MS SCCM. Possess thorough skills with system and network troubleshooting. Possess technical knowledge of WAN and SAN environments.
